Aunt Mary's Apple Crisp

Adapted from The Fanny Farmer Cookbook, circa 1965.

Ingredients

  • 7 large apples (4 granny smith, 3 other), peeled, cored and sliced thick
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 ¼ c. GF flour
  • ¾ c. white sugar
  • ¾ c. brown sugar
  • 1 ½ c. chopped walnuts
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ sticks of butter

Directions

Step 1

Butter a 13x9 baking dish and add the sliced apples mixed with 1/3 cup sugar and ¼ tsp. cinnamon.

Step 2

Mix the remaining ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until crumbly.

Step 3

Spread above mixture over the apples.

Step 4

Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender and crust is brown (about 35 minutes).

Step 5

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
