Divinity Candies
For those of you who thought you need to go to a store to get candy, you were wrong. Originally from the Celiac Sprue Association website (http://www.csaceliacs....).
Ingredients
- 3 c white sugar
- 2 egg whites, beaten
- 2/3 c cold water
- 1 t GF vanilla
- 1/2 c white corn syrup
- 1 c black walnuts, chopped
- 1/2 t salt
Directions
- Step 1
Boil sugar, syrup and water until it forms a hard ball in cold water.
- Step 2
Pour over stiffly beaten egg whites a little at a time, beating constantly.
- Step 3
Add vanilla. Beat it until it forms peaks. It will appear glossy.
- Step 4
Quickly add nuts and drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper or buttered platter. Candies have to be dropped fast to get nice smooth pieces.
- Step 5
Variations: May add almond or mint flavoring; can add food coloring.
