An Introduction to Sprued

Sprued is designed to make life easier for individuals with celiac sprue. According to The Celiac Sprue Association, celiac disease is defined as the following:

Celiac disease (CD) is a genetic disorder. In people with CD, eating certain types of protein, called gluten, sets off an autoimmune response that causes damage to the small intestine. This, in turn, causes the small intestine to lose its ability to absorb the nutrients found in food, leading to malnutrition and a variety of other complications.

This site is for you, the celiacs of the world, as well as your friends and family. Armed with the proper knowledge, you can live perfectly normal and healthy lives. We aim to make it as easy as possible for you to do so by offering the following resources:

  • A strong community. Feel free to personalize your account with a profile picture, a brief introduction, or even a bit of helpful advice for others.

  • Our recipes collection. Contains gluten-free recipes contributed by users. You're welcome to leave feedback on recipes that you've tried.

  • Our foods database. Contains helpful information about the gluten-free status of foods. You may contribute your own experiences with foods by answering a series of directed questions we provide. For example, "Does the manufacturer state if the food is gluten-free?," or "What is the gluten policy of the manufacturer?"
